Canada Greener Homes Grant

The Canada Greener Homes initiative offers grants of up to $5,000 to help homeowners make energy efficiency retrofits to their primary residences, with one of the most popular home upgrades being electric heat pumps.

Who is Eligible?

Most Nova Scotians are eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant, however only one person per-household may apply. To be eligible, you must own a home that is at least 6 months old, and it must be your primary residence. Therefore, residences such as summer homes, apartments or rental properties are not eligible.

How do I apply?

The first step in this process is to complete a Home Energy Assessment with one of Efficiency Nova Scotia's approved Energy Advisors.

A representative from the selected Energy Assessment partner will schedule a time to visit your home to measure its current energy efficiency, and provide you with a comprehensive report outlining the suggested upgrades to be made to the home to make it more efficient. At this time, you will have 12 months to seek out a contractor to complete your work. However, you do not need to wait to have your assessment completed to begin gathering quotes for services such as heat pump installations. Once ready, you may choose the contractor that you wish to work with.

How do I book my energy assessment?

You may contact any of the partnered Home Energy Assessment companies to get onto their schedule. If you need assistance with this step, Clean Air Atlantic works closely with numerous HEA Companies, and we can help you get scheduled in for both an assessment and a free quote for heat pump installations,.
